In 1995 twenty years had passed since the adoption of the Georgian constitution. Amid two decades of constitutional transformations and reforms the Georgian constitution has been the topic of ceaseless debates. However, less time has been devoted to the analysis of wider political, social and historical context. This collection of articles introduces the text of the constitution to the readers in the wide public context, which forms an important basis for considering the success or failure of the Georgian constitution.
On 28 September 2016 the OSGF published the collection of articles depicting a 20-year history of the Georgian constitution. The collection combines the articles on the text of the Georgian constitution and the constitutional order written by scientists working in different fields.
Keti Khutsishvili, the OSGF Director, David Usupashvili, the Chairman of Parliament, and Giorgi Papuashvili, head of the Constitutional Court, talked about the content of the publication, the past experience and challenges. The presentation was attended by editors of the collection, authors of the articles, constitutionalists, representatives of the executive, legislative and judicial branches of the government, international organizations and NGOs.
