Monitoring for Improvement of TV-Media Environment

28.02.2012

On February 24, Tbilisi Marriott Hotel hosted a presentation of a book – ‘Civil Monitoring for Improvement of TV-Media Environment’. The book presents results of the monitoring of the Georgian National Communications Commission (GNCC) conducted by the Levan Mikeladze Foundation and the Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association (GYLA). The monitoring was carried out as part of a project financed by the Open Society Georgia Foundation.
During the monitoring, the foundation and GYLA looked into decisions made by the GNCC on TV broadcasters and persons carrying out the transit of broadcasting.
The book considers difficulties associated with the development of media pluralism in the country, as well as issues relating to the competition and consumer rights protection on the TV market.
Apart from media organizations, the presentation was attended by GNCC representatives. After Levan Dolidze, the Director of the Levan Mikeladze Foundation, unveiled the publication, foundation and GYLA representatives answered questions of the invited guests.
