On March 16-18, Open Society Georgia Foundation -“Law and Health” initiative organized training for judges on the topic “Legal Aspects in Child Care and Child Welfare”.
The training was attended by 15 judges who hear the disputes on childcare issues. Besides, the staff of the Social Service Agency, representatives of the Public Defender and those from the organizations Children of Georgia and Every Child attended the training.
The training was conducted by the Judge Paul von Dadelszen from New Zealand
Judge Paul von Dadelszen has a 25-year experience of working as a District and Family Court judge.
The training was attended by 15 judges who hear the disputes on childcare issues. Besides, the staff of the Social Service Agency, representatives of the Public Defender and those from the organizations Children of Georgia and Every Child attended the training.
On the first day of the training the judges were given opportunity to enhance their knowledge in the issues such as:
-Youth Justice;
-Children. Young persons and their families;
-Diversion;
-Youth Court;
-Sentencing process;
-Domestic Violence;
-Judgment – Oral and reserved;
-Adoption;
-Parental Consent
Second day of the training was completely dedicated to the case study and discussion among participants.
