On September 10-11, 2012 the Satellite Symposium on Medical Education was held at Tbilisi State Medical University. Symposium was organized by the Open Medical Institute (OMI), the American-Austrian Foundation (AAF), Weill Cornel Medical College, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Tbilisi State Medical University (TSMU) and Open Society Georgia Foundation.
The Symposium was opened by the welcome address of the TSMU Rector Prof. Z.Vadachkoria, Vice-Rector of the Yerevan Medical University Prof. M.Narimanyan, Prof. from Baku Medical University R.Gavulova and Salzburg Medical Seminars’ Coordinator N.Pitskhelauri.
Professors: S.Ludwig, W.Ailitzky, M.Narimanyan, I. Manjavidze, G.Simonia, K.Chelidze, I.Afandieyev, N.Zeynalov and M.Narimanyan have presented presentations about the teaching strategies in medical education, modern teaching methods, good characteristics of the teacher etc.
In the framework of the symposium guests from USA, Austria, Azerbaijan and Armenia visited “Clinical Skills Center” of TSMU and “G.Jvania University Pediatric Clinic”. Experts and professors from Georgia, Austria, USA, Azerbaijan and Armenia had roundtable discussions about the actual issues of Medical education.
On September 11 the memorandum of understanding between OMI, AAF and TSMU was signed.
