European Integration Index for Eastern Partnership Countries

09.10.2012

On October 5, Open Society Georgia Foundation together with representatives from Eastern Partnership countries presented European Integration Index. The presentation took place in Brussels, Belgium.

The document looks at trends of European integration in 2011 for Eastern European Countries: Azerbaijan, Belorus, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia, Ukraine. According to indicators, “Moldova has kept moving forward while Georgia is lagging somewhat behind on many indicators of this Index. Ukraine has moved even further away from its one-time status as the ENP poster child as its democracy and business climate continue to deteriorate. The situation in Armenia has stabilised: although the May 2012 parliamentary elections were flawed, they were a clear improvement over the 2008 elections. Azerbaijan is showing increased lack of respect for democratic principles, while Belarus’s 2010 elections finally brought out the sanctions.” (European Integration Index for Eastern Partnership Countries, pg.6).
