Introduction of Anti-discrimination Bill

On July 8, the Justice Minister introduced the anti-discrimination bill to civil society in Radisson Blue Iveria Hotel.  The meeting was organized by the Open Society Georgia Foundation (OSGF).

The anti-discrimination bill aims to eliminate discrimination in terms of using existing rights and make sure all people are treated equally under the law.

The bill calls for the prevention of discrimination either, in particular elimination of discriminative norms and raising awareness about forms of discrimination and protection from it.

According to the anti-discrimination bill, Parliament will elect Equal Protection Inspector.  The latter will be responsible for dealing with specific applications and statements, developing legislative proposals, monitoring of respective environment and raising public awareness in the country.
