On 29 January, “Open the Door”, a collection of stories, was introduced to Davit Aghmashenebeli National Defense Academy of Georgia.
Writers Dato Turashvili and Lasha Bughadze jointly with Nino Kiknadze, a representative of the Open Society Georgia Foundation (OSGF), presented a project “Writers for Human Rights” to soldiers reviewing the stories involved in the book and problems addressed by them.
The event was attended by First Deputy Defense Minister Tamar Karosanidze and Zurab Agladze, head of National Defense Academy of Georgia.
Tamar Karosanidze noted that holding such meetings is important for both the military and the public.
Tens of books were handed over to National Defense Academy after the presentation.
“Open the Door”, a collection of stories, is made up of stories by nine Georgian writers. They wrote books about palliative care, HIV/Aids, Hepatitis C, autism, Down syndrome, drug addicts, people with limited abilities and people with mental disorders.
The project “Writers for Human Rights” aims to promote patients’ rights and bring their problems to the public by literary texts.
