06.11.2014

On October 31, at 5 pm, the Center for Social Sciences will present the results of the project ‘Management Information System Framework and Strategic Development Unit at TSU’ at the Open Society – Georgia Foundation Office.

The project has been implemented by the Center for Social Sciences since May 2014 with financial support of the Higher Education Program at the Open Society – Georgia Foundation.

The project aimed to foster administrative management reform at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) through supporting the modernization of TSU administrative management and development and introduction of a unified management information system. One of the important tasks of the project was to advance the creation of the Strategic Development Unit at the university, which implied defining structure and scope of work for the unit, job descriptions for its personnel and identifying preparatory activities to be carried out, as well as relevant budgeting.

The presentation will feature the core outcomes and recommendations from the study report carried out at TSU within the framework of the project with the participation of experts for the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) Consulting.  This study covers analysis of the overall management information system, directions and a list of changes to be implemented, and precise ways and activities designed to carry out the reform.

At the meeting, the examples of different Western universities will be used to discuss issues pertinent to the role, structure, and budgeting of the department/service/office for strategic development in schools of higher education, as well as the purpose of institutional research units in universities.
