On March 6, the Media Advocacy Coalition, in partnership with the Open Society Georgia Foundation (OSGF), held a conference dedicated to recent developments around Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB).
Among the participants were representatives of GPB’s Board of Trustees, management and staff members, lawmakers, as well as representatives of the Georgian Public Defender’s Office, Georgian National Communications Commission, media, experts and the U.S. Ambassador to Georgia.
The participants discussed the current situation at GPB following the election of its new director general and assessed the reforms offered by the new management. During the conference, the management voiced a new decision, according to which the programs will not be shut down till the end of season.
Since the development of a new vision was launched on March 3, it was not discussed thoroughly at the conference.
