In December 2017 staff members of OSGF supported Children’s Hospice in Georgia visited hospices in Netherlands. The aim of six days study visit was to expose nurses, coordinators and care givers to best international practice of hospice work. On top of local hospices, Georgian group underwent intensive learning course at Academic Center in Amsterdam and “Ema”, Children’s Hospital, also located in Amsterdam.
The course focused on physical, psychological and logistical aspects of palliative care such as care and nursing, handling terminal stage among palliative patients, pain management, ethics, communication with parents, informing children about fatal diagnosis and providing psychological support.
