400 free audio books for blind and visually impaired people

Electronic Book House SABA, with the support of Open Society Georgia Foundation, begins to create the first Georgian audiobooks. In several months, eBooks House SABA will deliver hundreds of free audio books to blind and visually impaired people. The books will be fully adapted to them, which means that blind people will be able to play their audiobooks independently, without the help of others.

Besides, these audiobooks will be available for free to anyone on saba.com.ge.

These will be technologically advanced audiobooks created in accordance with the modern standards. They can be heard through the application-Saba Reader, by any device, with no internet connection needed The audiobooks will have a table of contents,  pausing feature, note taking and playback speed adjustment options.

SABA offers writers, actors, organizations, who want to record or already have audio recordings of their books, to transform their recordings into audio books and make them available to all readers through this new platform.

Many audio recordings of various literary works are posted on the internet or reserved in foundations and archives in the form of audio files… A high-tech platform of SABA will make it possible to transform any old or new audio recordings of literary works into a modern high-tech audiobook.

Application of SABA will be adapted for the blind and visually impaired people through the special support program so that they can easily download the audiobooks, without the help of others.

During the project, presentation poems have been read and recorded by Georgian poets.
