55 days ago, the authorities broke the word given to the Georgian people and re-initiated the “Russian law” with the intention of dismantling the civil sector by passing it, but what they faced was unprecedented unity and unabated opposition. The Georgian people steadfastly defend and will defend their European future and will never reconcile to live under the Russian boot.
The “Russian law” will not work in our country! It will remain a mere piece of paper that no one obeys!
The authorities consciously created a threat to our country’s economy, international reputation, civil order, and peace. They did this on purpose, so that the citizens could no longer help each other. But we have been proving for the past 55 days that people never get tired of loving their country.
We will carry on with our protest and fight until this law is repealed!
They tried to intimidate us with special forces, beating and cursing, arrests, and illegal fines, but they failed to predict that nothing could stop us from doing the righteous deed called helping people.
We will continue with our work; we will help people and each other, and we will not obey the “Russian law”!
We will not leave anyone unattended; we will protect all those arrested and all those fined. Our lawyers will do their best in both domestic and international courts. We will collect money to pay each other the fines that were imposed on us for the love of our country and the fight for freedom.
The whole civilized world sees and supports our resistance. The adopted “Russian law” makes it harder to observe the elections, but we, Georgian civil organizations, promise to take all efforts to protect the elections and every citizen’s vote. We will be with you at every polling station to observe and help ensure free and fair elections!
This is Georgia! Russification is not something we will do! The Georgian people will once again prove to the world how committed they are to fighting for freedom.
We declare disobedience: NO to the “Russian law”! Yes, to Europe!!
