Hotline for the Protection of the Rights of Patients Launched

07.02.2014

Most patients are still unable to exercise their rights, both social and individual, despite the fact that the country has a respective regulatory framework.

On 23 January 2014 the hotline for the protection of the rights of patients was launched.  It will offer citizens of Georgia different types of free services, in particular:

§  Free consultations on patients’ individual and social rights;

§  Free consultations on state programs;

§  Free legal advice;

§  If needed, lawyer’s free consultation at court.

Beneficiaries can get consultations through two alternative channels of communication:

1.      Hotline: 2 103 003 – call is free for landline phone subscribers. The hotline works from 10:00 a.m. to 06:00 p.m. except for Saturdays and Sundays.

2.      The Internet: as part of the project website www.patientsrights.ge  was created.  It contains information about patients’ right and state programs.   Online consultations are also provided. Information is available at www.facebook.com/patientsrights as well.

The project has been implemented by the Georgian Health Law and Bioethics Society.
