Media Center helping spread observation results for LG Elections

By the initiative and support of OSGF, during the Local Government Elections in Georgia on the 15th of June the CSOs Media Center started functioning again similarly to previous election periods. The Media Center was established as to disseminate information about results of observation missions conducted by CSOs.

Georgian CSOs observing LG Elections process were briefing the media in a continuous regime about the election process.

Similarly to previous years, representatives of such the organizations as ISFED, GYLA, TI-Georgia, Development and Democracy Center, Multinational Georgia, Human Rights Center and Public Advocacy gave briefings about the election process at the Media Center on Election Day and post-election days.

The Media Center officially was opened on the 14th of June. On Election Day, the 15th of June, 22 briefings were given at the Media Center. And up to 16 briefings – on the 16th of June. On the second day, IDFI announced carried out by them PVT results that was of high public interest.

All the interested journalists were given an opportunity to work at the Media Center. All the press-conferences were streamlining online via internet. Different TV outlets made live broadcasts.

The Media Center actively operated while Parliamentary Elections in 2007 and 2013, Presidential Elections in 2008 and 2012, and LG Elections in 2010. It was the place giving a platform for CSOs to make public announcements and where all related to elections vital information was accumulated.

 

The Media Center will renew its operation during the second round of the LG Elections as well. Information online will be updated thereon at the FB page “NGO Media Center”.
