On April 4, some representatives of non-governmental organizations held a press conference at Open Society Georgia Foundation and unveiled their own arguments concerning the planned abolition of seven self-governing cities.
“Since the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure confirms that the work is underway over the issue of abolition of seven self-governing cities and offers its own arguments, adding that it will not make a decision without consultations with the civil society, we call on it to hold a meeting and a discussion on this issue,” NGOs say. They also claim that the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure has already launched closed consultations with the so called split municipalities.
