Today, on World Press Freedom Day, the Media Advocacy Coalition, together with representatives of the media and non-governmental organizations, held a solidarity rally for Nika Gvaramia. The like-minded people gathered near the presidential palace and demanded the release of the founder of Mtavari Channel from prison.
Since 1993, World Press Freedom Day has been celebrating the fundamental principles of press freedom, summarizes the state of press freedom across the world, shows support for the media in the case of attacks on its independence, brings together media representatives around matters of professional ethics, pays tribute to the journalists killed in the line of duty, and reminds governments of their commitments with respect to press freedom.
