On May 18, 2011 in Courtyard Marriott Hotel, Open Society Georgia Foundation (OSGF) and International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX) together with the Georgian Young Lawyers Association (GYLA) organized a roundtable on Freedom of Information issues. At the roundtable international media law expert Ms. Sarah Smith delivered a speech on FOI international standards and presented recommendations, prepared by Google and Baker & McKenzie LLP lawyers, at the request from IREX on proposed amendments to the Georgian FOI legislation, elaborated by Media Experts Initiative Group. Representatives of Ministry of Justice of Georgia, Supreme Court, Council of Justice, Parliamentary Legal Committee, Parliamentary minority, Media Experts Initiative Group, Media Advocacy Coalition, international and donor organizations delivered speeches and participated in the discussion on the issues of freedom of information and accessibility to public information in Georgia.
