On January 21 and 22, journalists participated in a training “Human Rights and Health Care” held within the framework of Public Health Program of Open Society Georgia Foundation.
During the two-day training, invited health experts, Sopio Lebanidze and Gia Kamkamidze focused on special tools for the media coverage of health care issues, insurance, universal health care program, rights of patients and medical staff as well as the issues related to medical ethics.
The workshop was held in a form of a lecture and it aimed at discussing various cases to help journalists define their respondents correctly when preparing materials related to health care, give due consideration to conflicting views, define in which particular cases they will have to apply to field experts, how to avoid medical slangs, stigma and how to make health care stories attractive to ordinary readers.
