We Persist in Our Legal Fight against the “Russian law”

30.05.2024

Georgian NGOs persist in their legal fight against the “Russian law.” We declare that we will not abide by the provisions of this law and will resort to all national and international mechanisms to obstruct its enforcement until this law is unconditionally repealed.

With that aim in view, we are preparing a lawsuit to file with the Constitutional Court of Georgia in the days to come. The Constitutional Court is vested with the authority granted by the Constitution to suspend the effect of the relevant articles of this law. However, our actions are not limited to the Constitutional Court.

If the Constitutional Court does not act in a timely manner and within the constitutional framework, we will use an alternative legal mechanism. At the same time, we are preparing a complaint to submit to the European Court of Human Rights, which we will appeal to in due time.

All NGOs and the media can become participants of this process and join us.

We will win together!

No to the “Russian law”! Yes, to Europe!
