According to statistics of National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, in 2017 47 thousand people died. Only 3000 patients out of 20 000 patients with severe pain had access to pain treatment.
More than 80% of patients in Georgia, do not have access to medium and strong painkillers. Wide spread myths and stereotypes of people about addiction linked to insufficient qualification of doctors and unfriendly legal framework make thousands of patients suffer from severe pain and their experience is very similar to stories of Maia and Darejan who speak out in the video.
The documentary has been prepared in the framework of the project “Put Yourself in my Shoes to Feel my Suffering” implemented by Human Rights Research Center with the support from the Open Society Georgia Foundation.
