Discussing Patient Rights with Adjarian Population

24.10.2016

On 8-12 October the Bioethics Association of Georgia met with medical personnel and local population in Batumi and the Adjara region. The meetings were held as part of the Hotline for Patient Right Protection project, which has been implemented with the support from the Open Society Georgia Foundation.

The meeting organizers informed citizens about patient rights, possible consequences of patients’ unawareness of their rights; measures to be taken by citizens in case of violation of their rights (as patients); mechanisms to respond to the possible violation of rights etc.

Representatives of Hotline for Patient Right Protection also talked about details of the universal health care program; in particular, types of privileges available for some groups of citizens; the ways in which citizens can be involved in different state medical programs and get financing for surgeries. Similar meetings will be held in different cities of Georgia in the following months.
