The Black Sea Book Fair

We would like to let you know that Georgian Book-Publishers and Book-Sellers Association (GPBA) in support with Eurasia Partnership Foundation, Open Society-Georgia and Ministry of Culture organizes the first Black Sea International Book Fair in Georgia in 27-30 of June – 2008. Respectively, participants of the event are: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine publishers.

 

 

The goal of the project is to promote and maintain the publishing industry development in the region; to explore book industry, to raise international awareness of the Black Sea book publishing sector; to establish closer relationship and improve sharing of experience among participant publishers; to motivate those publishers to integrate into the international book publishing process through training schemes and publications. On seminars and workshops we intend to raise problems on the book publishing sector in the Black Sea region; Government’s regulatory policy and macro-environment; Legislature harmonization issues among Black-Sea Countries and its importance for publishing industry globalization; Contemporary approaches of buying and belling rights; Publishing marketing; Discussions: How to improve the situation of the book industry in the Black Sea region and the other issues. 

We have planned the following Activities:

  • To run the First International Fair in Tbilisi;
  • To organize the seminars
  • To present the research results of Book Industry

The outcomes of the project will be: expand business relations and information exchange among publishers of the region, establish permanent platforms for co-operation among them; develop contacts, gain the knowledge, exchange the experience, find the ways out off the current situation, receive recommendations for future behavior, development and sustainability; understand the new methods and performance of the publishing business; augment the interest of foreign publishers and investors; ensure fundamental and beneficial business relationships not only throughout the Black Sea region, but also on a wider international level. We would be grateful if you participate in these activities.
