Peculiarities of drug addiction assistance system in the republic of Kazakhstan

In July with the financial support of Open Society Georgia Foundation, the representatives of medical centre Uranti and the Nation Centre for Disease control and Public Health visited republic scientific-practical centre of drug addiction medical-social problems in Havlodar (Kazakhstan)

In July with the financial support of Open Society Georgia Foundation, the representatives of medical centre Uranti and the Nation Centre for Disease control and Public Health visited republic scientific-practical centre of drug addiction medical-social problems in Havlodar (Kazakhstan)

The meeting organized on July 18, 2008 aimed at familiarizing professionals with the results of the visit and prospects for development of drug addiction service in Georgia by taking into consideration the experience of Kazakhstan.

The experience of the Kazakh specialists in the development of drug addiction service is interesting insofar as they receive significant support from the state and in terms of co-participation were capable of establishing the developed, relevant to modern standards, well-structured and accessible to all drug addiction service with the annual budget of 32 million USD.

Sharing the experience of Kazakh colleagues will contribute to development of effective service relevant to up-to-date standards. The event was aired on TV channels “Public broadcasting” and “Alania” and information agencies.
