17 Mar, 2010

The Open Society Georgia foundation together with the Ministry of Corrections and Legal Assistance of Georgia and the Center for Psychosocial and Medical Rehabilitation of Torture victims are launching the joint project. The Memorandum of collaboration was signed on March 11.

The project is funded by the OSGF and aims at researching the accessibility of medical services in the juvenile correction facilities and exploring the existing problems and needs. The monitoring will last for 6 months.

The project will identify how the rights of the prisoners as patients are observed, how accessible are the healthcare services, how adequate is the quality of the medical service and how the issues related to public health epidemiology and clinical medicine are organized.

At the final stage the recommendations will be provided that will support the improvement of the healthcare system in this facility.
