Students Meeting with Candidates of Tbilisi Mayor's Race

On May 24 the students-youth met with candidates participating in Tbilisi Mayor’s race. During the meeting in Sheraton Metekhi Palace Irakli Alasania, Gogi Topadze and Giorgi Chanturia presented their pre-election programs and focused on the issues crucial for the students. The meeting took place in a question and answer format.

The above mentioned event, funded by the “Open Society Georgia Foundation”, was organized within the “International Center for Geopolitical Studies” project “Improvement of Students’ Civil Awareness in Terms of Elections”.

According to the results of the survey “Which Mayoral Candidate would you like to meet?”, conducted as a part of the project, – the majority of the students gave preference to four candidates: Gigi Ugulava, Irakli Alasania, Giorgi Chanturia and Gogi Topadze.

Within the framework of the given project several meetings with foreign experts have already been organized. The leading experts from Lithuania, Latvia and Ukraine held public lectures for the students on the subject “Local Elections and their peculiarities” using the practice from their own countries.

The partners of the project are: Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, “Shalva Rcheulishvili Human Rights and Freedoms International Charity Foundation – Lawyer”.
